About MSc course in Scientific Computing
Formerly known as M.C.S. (Master of Computer science with specialization in scientific computing),the course was started to address the need for training and research in the evolving field of Scientific Computing. The latter combines domain expertise from pure sciences with computer science.
The school is one of its kind in India and the courses offered here are focused on fundamentals in scientific computing. The in-house faculty at ISSC is well supported by experts from the IT industry , which make the program oriented to the current trends in the industry. How is MSc Scientific Computing different from Master of Computer Application (M.C.A.)?
MSc Scientific Computing is a a two year course, while MCA is a three year course.
As BSc Computers (BCS) is not a eligibility requirement for MCA, the first year of MCA largely repeats the BCS syallabus.
Hence, a BCS graduates preferably opt for MSc as they save one year.
How is MSc Scientific Computing different from MSc Computer Science?
MSc Scientific Computing provides more courses relating to the application of Computers in pure sciences. Hence, it can be said to be more specialized.
What is the difference between postgraduation in the University campus Vs in the colleges?
Access to resources like highly qualified faculty, library, internet, project placements is better on the University.Campus. Lesser number of students in a batch and lower student to computer ratio is an advantage on the campus.
